Did you know that you can loan a ukulele through the Hucknall Library in the same way that you would borrow a book?
Did you know that there are over 80 learn to play ukulele songbooks and CDs available through the Hucknall library service?
Did you know that by learning just 2 or 3 chords you will be able to play more songs than you can shake a stick at?
There are three different sizes for you to try. Each includes a case, get you started notes and links to the fabulous Phil Doleman's beginners lessons.
HUGs Loan 1: Soprano Ukulele
This is the smallest of our ukuleles to loan, and probably most people's idea of a ukulele. A great place to start. The "fretboard" can sometimes be a bit awkward if you have large hands or reduced mobility.
HUGs Loan 2: Concert Ukulele
This is a very popular mid-range size. Tuned the same as the Soprano, but with a larger fretboard to accommodate larger hands.
HUGs Loan 3: Tenor / Baritone Ukulele
We have classed this one as a Tenor (next size up) but in reality it's nearer a Baritone size (largest of the Ukuleles). This is tuned the same as the Soprano and Concert, but has what is known as a "Low G" giving it a more guitar-like sound.
You can use the same chord shapes across all three sizes.
Download the "Beginners Notes".
